街頭劇場——穿梭在時空之間 協同策展人/羅秀芝
溢出現實之外的彼時
時間被鐘錶切割成二十四小時,日子在朝九晚五的兩端擺盪,鐘錶駕馭著時間,而歷史改寫了時間的記憶。
依著各自揀選的歷史片段,藝術家分別扣問和尋找關鍵的瞬間,細細品味彼時仍鮮活的生活點滴,努力勾勒關於此地的溢出現實之外的城市劇場腳本。我們選擇用敘述的語言和樸素的意象,縫合當下此刻的現實與逝去時光的裂隙,再現與表現為一齣齣街頭巷弄的劇場。
溢出現實之外的此地
地圖經常被困在經緯線裡,城市則總是被囚禁在道路織成的網絡裡,而空間的流變則恆常擱淺在歷史之中。
大龍峒是行經高速公路進入台北城的第一站,既處於城市的邊緣也帶著過站的性格。然而,穿透表層的現實空間進入時光的長廊,此地曾是台北城最古老的商街,昔日繁華仍在已成廢墟的宅院屋脊閃著最後的光芒。以為亙古不變的山川,其實暗藏多變的性格,我們其實很難想像此地的圓山和淡水河在彼時是何等模樣。
歷經記憶之旅歸來的藝術家,將所有腦中停格的過往風景,依著現實找到的線索,縫合成既漂泊又安定的劇場空間。
戲劇敘事的再現法則
已然逝去的昨日無法重現,只能藉由再現的手法,用各自藝術的語言翻譯某個凝凍時光裡的浮生片刻。
這裡的敘事手法,以跨越時空建搭現實與現實之外此地的空間,構築成多層次的舞台,其間時光裡的生活遺跡是最主要的布景,此地的街頭上演和當下一起成為昨日的即時戲劇。但願,觀戲者能各自擷取映入眼簾的美好風景。

Time beyond the present reality
The time of day is divided into twenty-four hours on clocks and
watches. The hands of clocks and watches run from nine in the morning
to five in the evening every day, telling people’s working time.
Clocks and watches control time for us whereas history changes people’s
way of looking at time and our memories of time.
Choosing their individual periods in time, artists search for the
key incidents of different periods. They carefully look at the vivid
details and make an outline of a script for a theater play about
and beyond reality. Bringing together all the historical incidents
which enable people to recall their memories, the artists try to
search for and look at the historical traces of a real city. For
this, they dig out rock stratum, telling the past days, and then
find the past’s glory behind the dust. Taking away complicated footnotes,
we use verbal description and unsophisticated visual images to bridge
the gap between today’s reality and the past. One after another,
theater plays will be performed in streets, lanes and alleys to
present our ideas.
This place behind the present reality
A map is often dominated by longitude and latitude. A city is always
jailed in a network of roads for traffic though spatial transformation
is ground in history.
Dalongdong, the first stop on the road to Taipei by highway, is
situated at the edge of the city. Because of the location, this
place presents its personality of ‘passing by’. Behind its present
reality, it has the oldest commercial streets in Taipei. Its glorious
past leaves just a few gleams which can be seen in ruined houses.
Some places which are, we have thought, constant are actually the
scenes hiding many changing personalities. It is indeed very difficult
for us to imagine what Yuanshan and Danshuei River looked like in
the past.
Artists try to discover the original place using clues from among
all the past changed sceneries. A theatrical space is finally made
to present a wandering but stable place.
Re-presenting the past via narrative theater
The past cannot strictly be present again. Yet, through a method
of representation, the past can be shown once more. Various artistic
techniques are adopted to display the frozen moments of the past.
What a descriptive way presents is follows: to
develop beyond the real time and space, to structure multi-leveled
stages, to present traces of the past life in their main setting,
to make performances on the streets, and finally to produce an ‘immediate
theater’ play telling the past. Hopefully, audiences will be able
to receive beautiful performances and treasure beautiful scenes
whatever comes into view.
